Alexa shared some of her challenges and advice for launching brands:
What inspired you to start your business?
I was inspired to start The Daily Dress after I had my son, and I needed easy outfits that are as functional as they are attractive. When I searched for a dress that met my needs as a mother with young children, my search came up short. I knew I couldnβt be the only busy mom in need of an effortlessly chic dress, so I set out to create it. The support Iβve received from the motherhood community has been amazing, and many of my customers have come back to buy a second, third, or even fourth dress.
What challenges have you overcome along the way?
The biggest challenge Iβve faced is learning to trust myself and my intuition. Iβve been guilty of asking a lot of friends and family members for their input, and all those conflicting opinions can make it hard to choose a direction. At the end of the day Iβm the one that is in charge of the future of the business, and my vision is what has gotten it to where it is. It takes confidence to trust that Iβm on the right path, and thatβs something Iβm still working on.
Do you have any advice for others looking to start their own business?
Iβve had many business ideas in the past, and The Daily Dress is the first one Iβve actually gone through with launching. I used to joke that my laptop was where my business plans would go to die. Youβll never know if a business idea will work unless you try it. So my advice is to try it out but start small. Youβll learn as you go. If itβs not the right time for that business, youβll still learn important skills that you can use wherever life takes you next.
